Ordering and pricing
Do you sell wholesale?
Yes. Dersh Feather has supplied feathers wholesale from New York City’s Garment District since 1918. We work with fashion houses, Broadway and costume shops, film and TV, manufacturers, product companies, florists, event designers and other creative businesses. We also sell small orders.
How do I get prices?
Every order is quoted. Request a quote with the product, quantity, color and any customization, and we’ll reply by email with pricing, availability and a timeline for your order. Wholesale and volume pricing is available.
Is there a minimum order?
There is no minimum on in-stock items, and larger orders can qualify for better pricing. Custom dyeing is done in dye lots, so minimums for custom colors depend on the item. We’ll tell you the minimum when we quote.
How do I pay?
Payment is due when you place your order. We accept ACH bank transfer and wire transfer, and credit card on request. Custom, dyed and made-to-order items are paid in full before production begins. See our Sales and Shipping Policy.
Do you offer samples?
Yes, samples are available on request, and you can order as little as one yard or one piece of an in-stock item to sample. For color-critical projects we recommend a sample before ordering. For larger custom orders, we can dye a sample for your approval before dyeing the full lot.
Do you sell by the yard or by the meter?
Fringe and trims are sold by the yard. A yard is just under a meter (about 0.91 m), so if your pattern is in meters, order a little extra. Strung feathers come in one-yard pieces but are priced by the pound: you can ask for a yardage or a weight, and you’re charged by weight.
Can I reorder the same feathers I bought before?
Yes. Send us a photo and measurements, or your earlier invoice, and we’ll match it.
Products and colors
What feathers do you carry?
Ostrich, turkey (including marabou), goose, rooster, pheasant, peacock and vulture feathers, plus feather boas, fringe, fans, pads, tufts, down, hats, shawls and whips. Browse feathers or browse feather products.
What colors are in stock?
Most items are in stock in white and black, plus natural where an item comes in natural. Other colors are available on request: some are in stock and others are dyed to order.
Can you match a custom color?
Yes. We dye to a Pantone number or a swatch you send us, as closely as possible. Dyed colors can vary slightly between dye lots, so order everything you need for a project from the same lot.
How does custom dyeing work?
Everything in a dye lot is dyed together in one bath, so one dye charge covers as many feathers as you need in that color. Each additional color is a separate dye lot. Ombre and two-tone dyeing are quoted case by case.
How do I get the closest color match?
Give us a Pantone number or, better still, send a physical sample: a fabric swatch, a feather, or even the garment itself. Dyed colors can vary slightly between dye lots, so order everything you need for a project from the same lot.
Can you identify a feather from a photo or sketch?
Yes. Send us a reference photo or sketch and we’ll suggest the closest feathers we carry, with photos, or how we’d make it. You’re also welcome to bring sketches to the showroom and choose in person.
Can you match feathers to repair a garment?
Yes. Send us a photo, or the feather or garment itself, and we’ll match the feather and dye it to the color.
Do you make feather pom poms for shoes and accessories?
Yes. We make marabou pom poms and shoe poofs to order, with a backing that makes them easy to attach, and send samples for approval.
What custom work do you do?
Custom dyeing (including two-tone and ombre), extra length or ply, glitter and mylar, curling, burning, gluing and made-to-order pieces. Glitter, curled and multicolor items are made to order. See custom feather work.
Lead times and shipping
How fast do in-stock orders ship?
In-stock items typically ship within 1–2 business days after payment.
How long does custom work take?
About 2–3 weeks from payment and approval of colors and specifications. Feather fans also take about 2–3 weeks. Rush jobs are available on request: tell us your deadline when you request a quote.
Can you ship on my shipping account?
Yes. We can ship on your carrier account, use a prepaid label you send us, or add shipping to your invoice.
Can you provide paperwork for shipping or import?
Yes. We can provide an invoice and our standard affidavit for your records, shipping or customs. Just ask when you order.
Do you ship internationally?
We handle international orders case by case. Tell us your country when you request a quote. The buyer pays customs duties and import fees, and some feathers need permits or can’t be imported into certain countries.
Can I pick up in New York?
Yes. You can pick up at our showroom at 144 W 37th St, Suite 4B, New York, NY 10018. Please book an appointment first so your order is ready.

Are your feathers ethically sourced?
Every feather we supply comes from birds bred in captivity. We source responsibly, follow recognized animal welfare standards, and never use feathers from wild or endangered species.

All sales are final. If your order arrives damaged, defective or incorrect, contact us within 5 business days of delivery and we’ll make it right. See our Return Policy.
